I really think that credit cards are just to convenient and rewarding not to use. This however came at a lot of learning resposibility on my part. Getting in a lot of debt and then out taught me some valuable lessons Now I just keep them paid off. Credit Card Reviews

@Mrs. Micah – Never had a credit card? Oh, how I envy you! Though judging by your blog, I think you’ll do just fine and act responsibly when you do choose a credit card. It can be a useful tool for sure.

@wealthy_1 – I feel your pain. I think it’s a great step that we are able to be honest with ourselves and resist the temptation of the credit cards for now though. Some day we’ll get there…

I think that experienced people who have their finances well under control already might do just fine by switching over. But I don’t think many people have developed the necessary discipline. I know I much prefer cash because cash scares me. On the other hand, I’ve never had a credit card, so I don’t know how I’d do with it. But I know I do fine with cash.

Maybe someday I’ll give this a try…just not yet.

P.S. If you’re a shopaholic, then it’s definitely not right for you. Even a recovering one. The same way my dad shouldn’t even ever have a glass of wine with dinner.

This whole personal finance thing is about behavior. I know that I cannot use a credit card for just one purchase. In fact, I was considering using the card for groceries “just for the points”. Then paying it off right away. Doing that will require discipline and I just don’t think I have it yet. However, I admire every single person who can do it.
